New section of the B 47: Bullendorf's passage through it is modernized!
On May 23, 2025, construction was officially started in Bullendorf for the second section of the town through the B 47. Federal Councilor Michael Bernard, Mayor Josef Tatzber and DDI Christian Schrenk-Glechner headed the ceremony. The first section had been successfully completed last year. Now the route is renewed up to the intersection of the B 47 with Lindengasse and Bäckergasse. Particular attention is paid to the renovation of the outdated road construction, which is over 50 years old and does not meet the current requirements. The sidewalks are inadequate and badly damaged. This was also confirmed by [noen.at] (https://www.noen.at/mistelbach/ortsverorts-bullendorf-bekommt-wieder-500-meter-Strassenbastelle- 467846704), where the milling work is mentioned at almost 500 meters of Lundenburgerstrasse.
The redesign of the passage through the town will be realized in three sections by 2026. The second section comprises about 470 meters and is provided with a new street surface. The road is carried out to a width of seven meters that corresponds to today's traffic standards. The design of the tributaries is also taken into account: on both sides the B 47 sidewalks and longitudinal parking areas are created for the dormant traffic. In addition, a lane divider is installed in the area of the church to ensure the safe crossing of the street for pedestrians.
costs and financing
The total cost for the second section amounts to around 1.15 million euros, with around 955,000 euros from the state of Lower Austria and 195,000 euros from the Wilfersdorf market town. It should be noted that the municipality of Wilfersdorf has invested 195,000 euros in the renovation since the project, as in the report by [noen.at] (https://www.noen.at/mistelbach/ortsver-bullendorf-bekommt-wieder-wieder-strassenbauste- 467846704) stated.
A total of 1,500 square meters of sidewalks and 1,400 square meters of parking strips and 800 meters of green areas are being created as part of the project. At the request of the residents, no more bus bays will be built. The work is carried out by the Mistelbach road maintenance department in cooperation with regional construction and delivery companies. The completion of the second section is planned for autumn 2025.
traffic transition and infrastructure development
Working on the Bullendorf passage is part of a larger strategy to improve the infrastructure, which is also of great importance in Germany. According to a study by the German Institute for Urban Studies (DIFU), municipalities face considerable challenges when it comes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and at the same time maintaining a functioning traffic network. The necessary investment volume for the preservation and expansion of rail networks and roads will be estimated at around 372 billion euros in Germany by 2030, which also has direct relevance for municipal projects such as in Bullendorf ([difu.de] (https://difu.de/presse/pressemitteilungen/2023-08-30/verkehrswende-mit-investiftungs-in-in-infrastructure-der-kommunen-
These developments show how important it is to modernize the infrastructure regularly in order to meet today's requirements and to promote sustainable mobility. The focus is not only on road safety, but also on the attractiveness of the townscape, which is supported by an appealing green space design.
