Kampwald National Park: A milestone for nature and region!

Waldreichs, Österreich - On May 30, 2025, the founding meeting of the person's committee for the Kampwald National Park in Lower Austria took place. The meeting, which was held in the venerable Palace of Waldeich, shows the commitment of regional policy for the preservation of nature and the promotion of added value. Deputy Governor Stephan Pernkopf and State Councilor Ludwig Schleritzko emphasized the importance of this project for the future of the region. The planned national parking area belongs to the Windhag scholarship foundation, including Gut Ottenstein, and offers a valuable basis for this ambitious project.

The personnel committee is made up of a wide -ranging group of regional personalities that come from the areas of tourism, research, politics, economy and nature conservation. A decisive aspect of the project is the creation of the “Dobratal” nature reserve, for which the federal government provides seven million euros from the biodiversity fund. The area comprises about 270 hectares and is to be designated as a nature reserve by the end of 2026/early 2027. "Dobratal" could be integrated into the Kampwald National Park, which supports long -term nature conservation in the region.

The northern Kamptal offers natural qualities that also require stronger adjustments in forest management, especially in view of climate change. With the aim of promoting climate chiefs and preserving species -rich cultural landscapes, measures such as the removal of non -location trees and the restoration of natural water areas are planned.
