Motorboat crash near Klosterneuburg: Six people injured!

Klosterneuburg, Österreich - On May 31, 2025, there was a serious incident on the Danube near Klosterneuburg when two motor boats collided with each other. A total of ten people were on board the two sports boats, and six people were injured in the collision. A person, a 46-year-old boat steering, suffered serious injuries when he was thrown overboard and got into the ship's screw with his legs. Witnesses reported that the 58-year-old who steered his boat tried to turn, while the other boat steering continued in a straight line and a water banana duke behind him. Both experiences led to the collision of the two boats.

The injured were supplied by the emergency services and an emergency doctor on site before they were admitted to the surrounding hospitals. In addition, a large -scale deployment of fire brigade, rescue workers and the police was necessary. Around 50 emergency services, including divers from the Vienna professional fire brigade, were deployed with a total of twelve vehicles and four boats. The Klosterneuburg Stadt volunteer fire brigade lifted both damaged boats out of the water with a crane and brought them to the shore. At the order of the Korneuburg public prosecutor's office, the damaged water vehicles were secured and placed in a safe place.

Details on the course of the accident

The accident occurred between the roller ferry and the inlet at Klosterneuburg. On the first boat, the 58-year-old were Austrian boat steering and two relatives, aged 14 and 40, and a family with three people who were between 12 and 55 years old. The 46-year-old boat driver was present in the second boat, accompanied by three other relatives between the ages of 10 and 42. Both boats suffered significant damage from the collision, while the 46-year-old's boat partially sank.

The investigation into the exact course of the accident focuses on clarifying the causes and circumstances of the collision. This is particularly important to prevent future accidents and increase safety on the water. In Germany, the Federal Office for Lake Accident Investigation (BSU) deals with the surveys of the circumstances and causes in the context of such accidents, but in this case it is not clear whether the BSU is involved because the authorities are responsible in Austria.

The investigation is currently underway, and the authorities hope to get a detailed result soon, so that everyone involved can be informed comprehensively about the reasons for the accident. The focus is on the security aspect to check similar rules and procedures that may be improved in other regions or watercraft -related laws.
