general trends in travel behavior
The latest ADAC tourism study 2025 emphasizes some changes in the travel behavior of the Germans. Despite economic challenges, the desire to travel remains crisis, although many people have to save. According to the study, the most important criteria for trips are a problem-free arrival and departure (74%) and the preservation of intact nature. These factors reflect the needs of many travelers and show that sustainability and experience of a country are increasingly focusing on.
In Germany, the number of “lots of magicians” that take five or more travel a year has increased from 3% to 8%. At the same time, the study shows that more people are willing to accept access fees to relieve overloaded holiday locations. This could be a possible solution to combat overtourism in the future. In addition, the proportion of travelers who want to travel abroad in 2024 rose from 64% to 69%, while traveling within Germany fell to 31%.
The quick development of mobility can also be seen in increasing the use of the aircraft to 37% and the increase in the bookings from package tours to 32% in 2024. These trends indicate that interest in travel and exploration of new countries, similar to Luca Horse quantities, continues to grow.
