Master celebration 2025: Vienna's handicraft column celebrated in full splendor!

Fürstengasse 1, 1090 Wien, Österreich - The master celebration "successfully mastered" of the business and craft of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce will take place on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, in the Herculess Hall of the Garden Palace Liechtenstein in Vienna. It is the 16th edition of this traditional event, which serves to celebrate 388 graduates of the Vienna master and qualifications for 2024. Maria Neumann, the chairwoman of the trade and craft division, emphasizes the essential role of the master's examination for training, quality, customer orientation and reliability in the craft.

The highest number of new masters in the field of monument, facade and building cleaning stands out among the graduates with 49 new certificates. Further remarkable results show: 38 championship titles in the master builder, 31 graduates in the cosmetic professions (except pierces and tattoo), 21 masters in the hairdressing and wig-maker industry, 23 graduates in motor vehicle technology and 17 in the area of providing workers. In the areas of hearing aid acoustics, foot care and horticulture, 16 graduates each passed the master's examination.

The importance of the master examination

The master's examination is a central component in the craft and represents the highest degree of training. People aged 18 and over can register for the master or qualification test. A specific training background is not absolutely necessary. Those who pass the master examination thus acquire the right to run a master company and be entered in the craft role. The handicraft regulations (HWO), which regulates important aspects of vocational training and examination modalities, informs about the legal requirements for the mastery obligation, including the possibility of obtaining a championship title by passing an examination according to § 45 HWO

Overall, the master's examination consists of five modules organized by master examination centers of the Chamber of Commerce. These modules include both practical and theoretical parts, including an instructor and entrepreneurial examination. From January 1, 2024, the examination fees for module tests and entrepreneurship will be released retrospectively from July 1, 2023, which lowers the financial hurdle for test subjects. State grants are also individually regulated and can be provided by various institutions.

At the celebration, particularly inspiring graduates are presented. Marie-Therese Böcksteiner, 34 years old and master gardener, focuses on sustainability and ecological design. Peter Klingler, 42 years and mechatronics champions, is proud of his role as head of technical management at the Veterinary University of Vienna. Larissa Rumpf, 27 years old, leads the family company in the painter and floor layer trade and combines tradition with innovation.

The manual training and the high standards of master tests are crucial for consumer protection and quality in the craft. The recognition of the championship titles, as shown in the commercial regulations and by the "master company" seal of approval, offers customers security that they are served by qualified specialists. With high professionalism and commitment, the new masters contribute to strengthening the standards and the importance of the craft in society.

The master celebration, as a central ceremony for graduates, also emphasizes the diversity and importance of the various businesses in today's economy. According to WKO, the master's examination is a sign of outstanding quality, training and the future viability in the craft. A strong craft is a guarantee for a stable market and satisfied customers
