Mega insolvency in Carinthia: Myrobin GmbH fights against flood of debt!

A remarkable development in the startup scene of Carinthia caused a sensation on May 24, 2025: Hannes Jagerhofer, the well-known entrepreneur and organizer of beach volleyball tournaments, has registered the insolvency of his company Myrobin GmbH. This message follows the recent bankruptcies of the acts sports events GmbH and Houseofweb GmbH. The Alpine Officer Association (AKV) confirmed the bankruptcy on Thursday morning.

The Myrobin GmbH, which is pursuing a business model in which private individuals transport packages against remuneration, has to fight with considerable financial difficulties. The liabilities amount to around 3.9 million euros, while the assets are only around 722,590 euros. The over -indebtedness is therefore around 3.2 million euros, which shows that around 30 creditors are affected. The business was discontinued and the formal termination of the company activity was requested.

background of bankruptcy

The reasons for bankruptcy are complex. The company has heavily burdened high costs for app development as well as missing funds for sales and further development. Despite previous attempts at financing by potential donors, successful discussions failed to materialize. These setbacks are reported for current reluctance to investments in startups, such as Kosmo

In the summer of 2023, Myrobin successfully carried out a crowdinvesting campaign and collect 900,000 euros from 466 investors. At the same time, a partnership with the ÖBB was announced in October 2023, but it was not sufficient to stabilize the company economically.

shareholders and other corporate activities

The shareholders of Myrobin include Mark Mateschitz (11.48%), Herbert Koch (8.35%) and SevenVentures GmbH (8.49%). Jagerhofer is also known as the co-founder of Checkfelix and, after his exit in 2011, launched the Checkrobin transport service platform.

In addition to Myrobin, Jagerhofer launched another project with the startup Revels. This platform combines buyers and sellers in the area of bridal fashion. At the moment, however, she does not achieve a profit, but is planning to switch to listing fees as soon as greater growth is made. The market entry in Germany is scheduled for 2024, and an application for the digital check of the WKO has already been submitted.

insolvencies in Austria in context

this bankruptcy is not isolated. According to the [Statistics Austria] (https://www.statistik.at/statiTiDiken/ industrie-bau-hand-hand-führendemography/ Registrations-und-innolven), extensive data on corporate registrations and bankruptcies were collected in the first quarter 2021. This data is evaluated according to aggregated economic sectors and are based on judicial bankruptcy proceedings. The decline in the number of newly founded companies and the simultaneous increase in bankruptcies indicate the challenges with which many startups are faced in Austria.

The developments related to the insolvency of Myrobin GmbH thus throw a shadow on the startup scene of Carinthia, while entrepreneurs like Jagerhofer continue to strive for new business models.
