Mathias Mariner: Tirol's apprentice of the month April inspires everyone!
Virgen, Österreich - Mathias Mariner from Virgen received the "Apprentice of the Month" award in April 2025. The 20-year-old prospective electrical engineer in the fourth year at AGETECH GmbH in Lienz was recognized for his excellent performance. He received special praise for his reliability, collegiality and punctuality. The honor took place in the presence of youth councilor Astrid Mair, who ceremoniously presented the title.
Mariner has also completed the fourth specialist class of the Tyrolean specialist profession for electrical engineering, communication and electronics with the grade "very good" in all subjects. These academic successes are the result of a sound training that can be acquired in Austria in different ways, be it through vocational school, a company or a university. The training as an electrical engineer has adapted to modern, technological requirements and includes both practical and theoretical learning.
commitment and further education
In addition to his training, Mariner volunteers in several organizations, including the rural youth, the volunteer fire brigade and the rifle company Virgen. He is also active in the folk dance and Schuhplattler group and in the Tyrolean Rangglerverein Matrei. This commitment reflects his social responsibility and shows that he also takes responsibility outside of school.
In order to further expand his specialist knowledge, Mariner took part in the apprenticeship camp 2024 with the "KNX supplementary module" and the "Working under low voltage" seminar. Such additional qualifications are important to make progress at work and to meet the high demands of modern electrical engineering.
professional perspectives and training
The activities of electricians and electrical engineers are diverse. They work with electronic devices, machines and systems, take care of their furnishings, maintenance and repair. The main tasks include laying cables, working with distributor cabinets and programming controls. After that, many choose a specialization in areas such as process control technology or energy technology. These specializations are part of a comprehensive training system that includes a duration of 3.5 to 4 years.
The training usually begins after the regular schooling is concluded and requires an affinity for technical systems as well as good knowledge of mathematics and physics. The apprentice compensation varies depending on the apprenticeship year, starting at around 713 euros in the first year to 1,534 euros in the fourth year.
Overall, the electrical engineering industry offers excellent job prospects, since the demand for qualified specialists remains unbroken. Mathias Mariner is an example of the success that committed young people can achieve in this professional field.
