Magirus Lohr: Key role in growth and innovation for Europe!

Graz, Österreich - On May 20, 2025, the Magirus Group presented its comprehensive strategic 10-point plan, which should set the course for future-oriented development of the company. This plan was developed under the direction of Fatmir Veselaj, Chief Restructuring Officer and designated CEO. The aim is to position Magirus as a technology leader and reliable partner for emergency services worldwide. A central element of this project is the role of Magirus Lohr GmbH, which will act as an operational headquarters for Southeast Europe and takes on important tasks in the areas of innovation, logistics and strategic project responsibility.

Christian Reisl, CEO of Magirus Lohr, emphasizes the basic responsibility of the company for innovation, loyalty to delivery and international expansion. As part of the plan, the introduction of the new Flex vehicle and the establishment of a logistics hub for investing in modern fire engineering are planned. This defines Austria as a central market that is intended to focus on technology orientation and quality standards.

Flex vehicle and production increase

The modular fire engine "Flex" promises high variability, short delivery times and easy maintenance. The production of extinguishing and special vehicles in Lohr is to be increased to 350 units per year. In addition, close cooperation with a new partner location in Croatia is sought in order to further increase production flexibility. The establishment of an international logistics hub and a digital online platform for global access to spare parts are also part of the planned measures.

Another ambitious aspect of the 10-point plan is the creation of a modern service world in Graz, which is supposed to offer an integrated service concept with digital tools. In the long term, Magirus pursues the goal of increasing sales by 2030 to over 750 million euros and ensuring sustainable profitability.

logistics trends and autonomous vehicles in Germany

In a broader context, Germany is a leading logistics center in Europe and plays a crucial role in the development and integration of autonomous vehicles. According to [gtai.de] (https://www.gtai.de/en/invest/publications/markets-germany/the-future-of-- 1842326), the Safe20 project, which was supported by the Dachser in March 2024, successfully demonstrated self-driving trucks. These fully autonomous vehicles are able to operate in complex traffic situations at a minimum speed of 20 km/h, which prepares the way for their integration into regular service.

With over 3.7 billion tons that were promoted in Germany with the help of truck in 2019, trucks represent an essential part of freight transport, which is why their use in logistics will increase. The market entry of autonomous trucks is expected earlier than that of cars in particular than that of cars. In particular, Platooning solutions in which trucks network via car-to-car communication, promise significant efficiency and cost advantages.

autonomous mobile robot and logistical processes

In order to further automate the logistical processes, autonomous mobile robots (AMR) are also increasingly being used. These driverless transport systems use artificial intelligence to choose route and can achieve decisive efficiency gains in the transport of light goods. The AMR market shows great growth potential and is expected to achieve a volume of $ 58.9 billion by 2026, which underlines the trend towards digitization in the logistics sector.

In summary, it can be said that the Magirus Group not only relies on innovation and internationalization with its 10-point plan, but also acts into a rapidly changing logistics market. Autonomous vehicles and new technologies are at the center of this transformation, whereby the focus is on increasing efficiency and sustainability.
