Lion girl Anna and Kiara: Farewell to legends in Lionsrock

An era comes to an end: The last two lions from the Safaripark Gänserndorf, Anna and Kiara had to be put to sleep at the age of 24 and 20 due to age -related health problems. The animal protection organization "Four Paws" commented on the loss in a press release in which the two lionesses were described as the last survivors of a pack, which was transferred from Gänserndorfer Park to the large cat protection center "Lionsrock" in South Africa in 2007. Hildegard Pirker, the head of "Lionsrock", was deeply affected and expressed that Anna and Kiara were part of the team and the history of the protection project for almost 17 years. "The two have enriched our all lives incredibly," she said, adding that the entire team of "four paws" feels emotionally affected.

The return to natural living conditions

In “Lionsrock”, big cats, which often lived in captivity under unimaginably bad conditions, find a new home until the end of their natural life. The care and well -being of the animals are top priority. "When the animals arrive, we are doing everything we can to get used to their new surroundings quickly," emphasized Pirker. She noticed that the two lionesses lived in a protected environment and their time in the pack was very happy, although, despite their previous suffering, they were recovered in recent years of their lives. "You will always have a special place in our hearts and in the history of" Lionsrock "," continues Pirker.

NÖN.A> reported that the lions Anna and Kiara in the certainty of their family pack on “Lionsrock” and the team happily appreciates themselves to give them a long and happy life.
