Art and life: Sabine Wiedenhofer opens the doors to her dream house in Vienna

Wien-Ottakring, Österreich - The artist Sabine Wiedenhofer opens the doors to her life and her creative creative space in Vienna-Ottakring. In an interview with OE24 she describes how she discovered her dream house in 2004, which she was looking for for herself and her family. The decision fell on a quiet alley and not on a "sprayed" district. Wiedenhofer describes the house as "love at first glance" and feels attracted to the energy of the place. Together with her 17-year-old daughter, her 19-year-old son and the bitch Lola, she lives in this three-story building, which emerged from a valve.

The artist appreciates the relaxed neighborhood and the multicultural surroundings of her residential area. She set up her bedroom in the former studio, where many of her first works were created. On the ground floor she designs an inviting anteroom, a living and dining room as well as an office. A special highlight is your kitchen, which has made you an interactive art project; Guests can write with paint pencils on the fronts. In the dining room there is a collection of Murano glass figures that come from their installation "Man, do not annoy yourself", and the walls adorn abstract paintings that reflect their view of the world.

creativity and community

Wiedenhofer attaches particular importance to the function of her home as a place of encounter for friends, family and colleagues. In her artistic work, too, she shows a strong commitment to the community. It has developed room concepts as part of "Artists Projects" to promote creativity in living rooms. Her work reflects a personal interest in the human condition when she researches the topics of contemporary society through various media and denounces grievances.

Wiedenhofer's work address an alarming status quo of global matters and plead for togetherness and cooperation. With her series "Suspended Words", she surprises with humorous wall sculptures that raise relevant questions with empty cartridges and stimulate rethinking. Her art is a poetic intervention that uses the medium of glass and the "aesthetics of violence" to send an insistent call to change.

look into the future

On May 31, Wiedenhofer's latest project, a stage design for the Verdi Requiem "Mass for Humanity", will be premiered. At the same time, she is planning further exhibitions, including the "Passion" in the Künstlerhaus Vienna from May 9th to June 1, 2025 and a presentation in the Boca Raton Museum of Art from April to October 2025. The program is also on her program in Hong Kong in August 2025, as is various group exhibitions in the coming years.

In the middle of these exciting developments, the art scene of Vienna is shown as dynamic, but also challenging, such as Derstandard . The Offspace Discotec, opened by Felix Dennhardt, Agnes Varnai and Peter Varnai, has developed into a hub for young artists. The creative potential of Vienna becomes visible during performances by the collective Club Fortuna. The central location of the offspace in Schleifmühlgasse opens up new perspectives for the visibility of art.

Sabine Wiedenhofer's commitment to the art world and its creative projects not only promote their own career, but also the community around them. Your home is not only a retreat, but also a creative incubator who represents the diversity and dynamics of the Viennese art scene.
