Klopp reaches through: RB Leipzig converts Fabregas as a new trainer!

After Marco Rose was dismissed in March, RB Leipzig is looking for a new coach. Sports Managing Director Marcel Schäfer took responsibility for this important position. In the coaching search, Jürgen Klopp, who has been holding the global football management at Red Bull since January 1, was actively involved. In particular, Klopp is interested in CESC Fabregas, whose contract is currently running at COMO 1907.

To convince Fabregas of an engagement in the Bundesliga, Klopp personally met with the coaching candidate. Internally, Fabregas is seen as the key to a fresh start after a disappointing season. However, the meeting between Klopp and Fabregas leaves questions because the Spaniard's obligation must expect high transfer of transfer. Bayer Leverkusen also expressed interest in Fabregas, but has now chosen Erik Ten HAG as a new coach and signaled that the 36-year-old is not available.

The coaching search takes place on July 14th before the start of training, while the club is currently on PR tour in Brazil. Interim coach Zsolt Löw was positive about the persuasiveness and energy of Klopp. Nevertheless, Fabregas is faced with a big decision, since with COMO he is in contract negotiations about an extension and a possible exit clause. He made it clear that Como remains the first point of contact for him, but keeps his options open.

Alternative candidates for the coaching position at RB Leipzig are Oliver Glasner by Crystal Palace and Thomas Frank. Glasner is under contract until 2026 and could prove to be a more expensive candidate than Fabregas. At the moment, however, the situation remains tense because there have been no conversations with Glasner. The coming weeks will be decisive to clarify whether Leipzig can pull a new coach on land who continues to drive the ambitions of the association.
