Klaus Schwab: End of an era at the World Economic Forum!

Klaus Schwab, the founder of the World Economic Forum (WEF), has announced his resignation as chairman of the WEF curatorial today with immediate effect. At the age of 87, Schwab leaves an organization that he launched in 1971 and has established itself in recent decades as an important platform for dialogue between politics, business and civil society. Vice-President Peter Brabeck-Letmathe is entrusted with the tasks of Schwab, while the WEF is experiencing a difficult moment and his public perception disappears, especially in the shadow of the Munich Security Conference, as [vienna.at] reports.

The WEF, headquartered in Geneva and numerous offices worldwide, employs around 600 people in cities such as New York, Beijing and Tokyo. The board of trustees thanked Schwab for his 55-year-old "tireless leadership", who made the WEF an important meeting point for politicians, managers and scientists. In a time of change, the WEF continues to emphasize the need for dialogue to "improve the state of the world".

global challenges and the WGS 2025

Special attention is also paid to the redefinition of education and mobility as well as the competition between China and the USA. Artificial intelligence plays a central role in the discussions that could be decisive for how the global community will develop in the coming years.

In view of the resignation of Klaus Schwab and the simultaneous developments on WGS 2025, it becomes clear that the WEF is facing new challenges, while the dialogue about the future of our world is still of the utmost importance.
