Nimo in Feldkirchen concludes: an important chapter comes to an end

The traditional Nimo fashion house in Kirchgasse of Feldkirchen decided to finish its closure. This business, founded in 1922 by Erna and Josef Moser, was a central point of contact for customers from all over the region for over a hundred years. In the best times, around 75 employees ensured lively operation and around 150 apprentices received their training here.

On September 30, 2023, business was finally closed, which is perceived as a serious loss for downtown Feldkirch. As a highlight of the customer experience, among other things, the spectacular action, in which elephants pulled through the streets to promote the fashion house. "Nimo crushed the prices" was the slogan, which caused a sensation and underlined the creativity of the business. Such events and notorious fashion shows made Nimo a popular meeting place.

The long tradition

Ingrid Maier, who started her training at Nimo in 1977 and finally advanced to the managing director, likes to remember the time and describes the house as its second home. The closure not only has an emotional importance for them, but also for the loyal regular customers, since many had integrated into their shopping habits from medium-Carinthia Nimo.

The new owner of the empty building, an investor, now has to decide what is happening with this important retail space. The closure has rejected the discussion about the future of retail in the region, but concrete plans have so far been unknown. The developments on this matter will continue to be observed, especially since the fashion house always played a central role in the Feldkirchen community.
