One last farewell: Erwin Kronlechner, football icon from Kühnsdorf

The sudden death of Erwin Kronlechner, better known as the "crown", shaked the football community in South Carinthia. The estimated referee, who turned 74, was an outstanding figure in regional football. Born in Gurk, he lived most of his life in Tainach and most recently in Kühnsdorf.

With over 3000 whistled games since 1980, Kronlechner was not only a referee, but a living legend on the football fields. The father of a daughter and two -time grandfather leaves an impressive legacy. He was used as a line judge over 2000 times. His integrity and fair dealings with players and trainers made him a respected personality. Silvo Kumer, the general secretary of the Slovenian athletics club, describes him as "a dazzling referee personality", which was particularly well received by the youth.

The VST Völkermarkt recognized Kronlechner on Facebook and called him "a real icon in regional football". His commitment and passion for sport remain unforgettable. The urn burial is scheduled for October 19 at 11 a.m. in Tainach. On social media, the community expresses its deep regret over the loss and honored his memory.

The sudden loss will be a painful cut for many, since Kronlechner was still active in his role as a referee until his death. His life's work will surely be remembered in the coming years, and his merits will continue to live in the hearts of many players and fans. Sport has lost a great advocate, but his spirit will continue to live in the places that he whistled so often.
