20 years of community service: A lavantaler reports on educational experiences
A remarkable anniversary is celebrated in Carinthia: the Carinthia relief organization looks back on 20 years of community service. During this time, civil servants have played a crucial role by acting actively in various social areas. From the care and care of older people to disability aid and public relations - their commitment has become indispensable for many. Elisabeth Scheucher-Pichler, the President of the relief organization, emphasizes the inspiring willingness of the civil servants to assume and help social responsibility where it is necessary.
The history of the civil service in the Carinthia aid organization began in 2004 with a single civil servant. In 2007 the number of places available rose to four, and seven civil servants were employed by 2009. Since 2011 there have been twelve civil servants. At the end of 2023, a total of 74 civil servants were active in the various national associations of the aid organization across Austria. In 20 years, 202 civil servants have served and gained valuable experience that will benefit them on their future life.
insights into the community service
Nico Podtstschnig, a 20-year-old civil servant from Lavamünd, has decided to do his service at the Carinthia aid agency. His motivation came through talks with a colleague who reported on his positive experiences. "Leiwand sounded, I want to do that too," he says, which moved him to contact the relief organization directly.
His tasks include the delivery of food in the Völkermarkt area, where he supplies both private customers and facilities such as the day care center with warm meals. The day begins for Podtschnig at 6.30 a.m. when it arrives in Völkermarkt to prepare everything for the upcoming deliveries. The meals are delivered from a central cuisine in Feldkirchen, and it ensures that everything gets well sorted and on time reaches the recipients. "It is a very pleasant job if you enjoy it and can handle older people well," he adds.
special memories
An experience that Podtschnig is particularly remembered was a farewell gesture of a long -time customer. After many years, this had deregistered the menu service and gave him a self -knitted hood to say goodbye. "Such moments make work significant and beautiful," he says.
He also emphasizes the advantages of his service: "You have contact with the customers, hardly get into stress because the tours are well divided, and has a lot of time for private or other professional activities in the afternoon, since the working day ends at 3 p.m.
Due to the long -term tradition of the civil service in the Carinthia aid agency, not only the important social work in the region is promoted, but also offered young people the opportunity to gain valuable experience that they will accompany in their professional and personal life.
