Villach relies on sustainability with a mobile asphalt recycling system
In a remarkable initiative, the city of Villach was the first city in Austria to put a “mobile asphalt mixing system” into operation, with which up to 1.5 tons of old asphalt can be reprocessed every day. This system marks an important step towards recycling and resource conservation by transforming old asphalt pieces into fresh hot mixing goods at temperatures of 180 degrees Celsius. This technology is primarily used to repair potholes and small excavations, which has so far been done by the more expensive use of bucket asphalt.
The innovative concept not only promises financial advantages, but also ensures more efficiency in keeping roads. Mayor Günther Albel (SPÖ) emphasizes that this measure represents a further contribution to environmental protection and enables the city to be more flexible when planning road repairs. "We are making a further contribution to environmental protection, becoming more flexible when it comes to keeping roads," explains Albel.

Another positive aspect of the mobile system is your year -round usability. In contrast to conventional asphalt mixing systems, which are often out of operation for several months a year, this machine of the city of Villach enables repairs to be made at any time. This reduces waiting times and improves the city's infrastructure, which ultimately benefits the citizens.
In addition, with an investment effort of only 15,000 euros, the city represents an attractive funding situation that enables the municipality to quickly integrate this innovative technology. Alfred Wolligger, the head of the municipal farm, is convinced that this investment will pay for itself within a year. "This system combines efficiency and sustainability," says Wolligger.
The decision to use the mobile asphalt mixing system is not only a technical, it also shows that Villach has decided to use modern and environmentally friendly solutions. In a time -lapse in which many cities are fighting with the challenges of maintaining their infrastructure, Villach sets an example of innovation and a sense of responsibility towards the environment. This procedure is an important example of other cities such as resource conservation and cost reduction at the same time. Further information on the use of this new system can be found
