The highlight of the event was a lively discussion about the opportunities and risks of algorithms in social media. Expert Delphine Rothenede from the social media agency Rothi.media illustrated how important it is to understand the functional of the respective platforms. "Anyone who knows the mechanisms of social networks gives themselves an advantage in dealing with them," says Rotheneder. The challenge is to counter the manipulation through the platforms and to regain control of your own digital content.

After the kick -off event, class 4D of the MS Völkendorf will work on the topic of "hatred online" as part of workshops and lectures over the entire school year. The students should actively participate in the design of the project by setting their own priorities and developing solutions. Christine Erlach , the management of the Equaliz Association, noted: "The young people are the experts of their everyday life - they should say in this project."

The project "#nohate - so respect!" was launched by the Carinthia equal treatment body in cooperation with the education directorate. The initiative is a step in the right direction to reduce cyberbullying and promote respect on the Internet.
