Laura Giefer becomes the Christ child at the Villacher Bauern advent 2024

The anticipation for the Villach farmers' advent is growing, because the Christ child for 2024 was announced. This year the jury chose ten -year -old Laura Giefer, who will now take on the honorable task. Together with the two main guys, Lena Schönherr (9) and Viktoria Miklau-Kuehs (11), they will enrich the celebrations.

On Wednesday, November 20, a total of 15 children from Villach and the surrounding area in the park café in front of the jury, which consisted of members of various institutions. The nervousness was clearly noticeable to the participants, but everyone mastered the appearance with a poem presented.

The decision was not easy for the jury because the quality of the presentations was high. Laura Giefer was able to score with her confident charisma and her bright smile. She appeared with a clear emphasis that left the impression. Lena Schönherr and Viktoria Miklau-Kuehs followed close behind her, whereby Lena performed the poem full of emotions and Viktoria presented almost the entire text.

Finally, Laura Giefer convinced the jury and can now prepare for a big appearance. This takes place as part of the Villach farmers' advent, which will start on Sunday, December 22, 2024, from 5 p.m. with the arrival of the Christ child to the Villacher Drauterrassen.

A special Highlight will be the arrival of the peace light with a ship that will ignite Laura Giefer. In addition, around 30 divers who cooperate with the ÖWR section Villach as well as the fire brigade and the ÖHB battalion generate an impressive picture by immersing them in the water in the form of the "star of Bethlehem".

The specialist jury also selected other angels and shepherds that will occur in the festive framework. In particular, this are Luisa Fritz, Isabella Erian, Celine-Leonie Fina, Sofia Jonach, Sophie Frankhauser, Raphaela Hirzberger, Sophie Emma Smekal, Sophie Ludwig, Hannah-Sophie Santler, Lucy Knabl, Anna-Sophia Kanduth and Christina Rubländer.

The Villach farmer's advent has stood for contemplation and tradition during Advent since 2011 and has set itself the goal of preserving the alpine Christmas culture. This festive time should help to celebrate the spirit of Christmas and child and family life, which underlines the importance of this custom in the community.
