New resolutions of the Velden municipal council: water, parking and prices at a glance
In the last meeting of the municipal council of Velden, a number of important decisions were made that affect both the infrastructure and the fees for the citizens. Central topics included massive investments in water measures and changes in the short park zones.
The deputy water officer DI Helga Tschernitz informed the council members about the constant monitoring of the drinking water supply. The Velden-Schiefling waterworks carries out regular examinations to ensure the quality of the drinking water. With the help of UV systems, it is ensured that the water is always clean, and the next comprehensive examination is due in mid-October.
massive investments in the water supply
In order to ensure the long -term drinking water quality in Velden, the local council has decided on an extensive reinvestment plan for the next ten years, which includes a total of almost ten million euros. Among other things, this plan provides for the renovation of the Laas elevator and the Wurzen pumping station and the renewal of the water pipes in Karl-Fischer-Weg/Augsdorferstrasse. The necessary orders have already been awarded. Since the financing of the projects cannot only come from their own budget, the water supply fees will be increased to 1.98 euros per cubic meter from October 1, 2024 and should increase by five percent in the following years.
Finance officer Margit Heissenberger also expressed criticism of the federal and state governments, which confront the municipalities with steadily increasing financial burdens. Despite the reduction of the federal income components by around 300,000 euros and the higher state levies of 1.5 million euros, the municipality managed to reduce the deficit for 2024 from originally 1.7 million to less than 1 million euros.
changes in the parking fees
Another significant decision concerns the fees for short park zones. From October 1st, the citizens will now also have to pay fees for the parking spaces at Swiss Post and in Villacher Straße. As already decided in April, this applies to all short park zones from April 1 to December 31. The parking time is limited to three hours, and the obligation to pay a fee daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In addition, a new contract with Kurti’s children's kitchen was concluded for the delivery of lunch meals to kindergartens, which should ensure that the latest high -quality and healthy food is given. This also includes a cheaper price from January 1, 2025 and the introduction of a monthly contribution to handicrafts and creative materials.
The municipal council meeting illustrated the challenges in front of which the city is standing, but also the proactive steps that are undertaken to improve the quality of life and infrastructure. Mayor Ferdinand Vouk was enthusiastic about the successful tourism season, which has liven up the place. The report was rounded off by the fire brigade in flood areas that were sent to support the emergency services.
