K3 Film Festival 2024: insights into the art of proximity in Villach
from December 4th to December 8, Villach again becomes a meeting point for film enthusiasts from the Alpen-Adria region. The K3 Film Festival offers an exciting program that includes both long and short films and reflects the cultural and social spectrum of Carinthia, Slovenia and Friuli-Julian Veneto. Festival Director Fritz Hock said that this year's “closeness” topic is inspired by the many negative news from the world that could raise a new awareness of the essential aspects of being human.
The opening ceremony of the festival begins on December 4 with the Austrian premiere of Sonja Prosenc's "Family Therapy", which was awarded the multi -awarded Slovenian film. This gloomy-comic real satire shows the complex structures of a wealthy family and promises to stimulate viewers to think. The gala will take place as part of the European Cinema Nights with free admission, while numerous actors and the director will personally be present.
Short films and exciting premieres
Another highlight of the festival is the Fresh up!, which is devoted to the independent filmmaker. In this context, not only the best films are chosen, but also a lively exchange between the spectators and the filmmakers. A total of three prizes are awarded: the K3 Long Film Prize, the K3 Short Film Prize of the Jury and the K3 Audience Award, in which the viewers themselves can vote on their favorites.
The event takes place in the Villach city cinema at Rathausplatz 1. Interested parties can look forward to a variety of films that strengthen the reference to the region and open up new perspectives. The K3 Film Festival is a must for everyone who wants to experience the diversity and creativity of filmmaking in the Alpine Adria region.
