Carinthia's industry under pressure: a 3-point plan for the future

Austria's industry is facing increasing challenges that urgently need to be addressed. High tax burdens and increasing energy costs put the companies under great pressure. Michael Velmeden, the chairman of the Industry division of the Carinthia Chamber of Commerce, commented: "The situation is spoiling. We are no longer allowed to watch how companies are increasingly under pressure under the current framework conditions and also have to dismantle employees." These words underline the need for quick decisions from the future federal government to secure the economic basis and prosperity of the country.

A comprehensive 3-point plan was adopted as part of a conference of the industrial divisions, which was recently held in Vorarlberg. This plan aims to find concrete solutions for the most pressing problems in the industry. The focus is on the following points:

goals of the 3-point plan

  • lowering the tax rate and the non -wage costs
  • Energy transformation, which results in competitive prices and practical implementations
  • reduction in bureaucracy, reduction in unnecessary reporting requirements and faster administrative procedures

These objectives illustrate the central challenges that Austrian industry is facing. Jürgen Mandl, President of the Carinthia Chamber of Commerce, also emphasizes that politics not only have to secure the competitiveness of domestic companies, but also to reduce bureaucracy to a reasonable level: "Especially in times of global competition that becomes increasingly difficult, we must not burden domestic companies with exaggerated bureaucracy and taxes."

The industry also calls for stable framework conditions for ecological transformation with the aim of implementing it into globally competitive prices. "Our companies are part of the solution, but also need the right framework and competitive energy prices. The industry sees itself as a driving force for an innovative and stable economy," said Velmeden.
