Despite difficult times, Spittal is investing 12.5 million euros in 2025!
Spittal an der Drau, Österreich - In a decisive council meeting, the estimate for 2025 of the city of Spittal an der Drau was unanimously adopted yesterday. Despite continuing economic challenges, including high energy costs and increasing compulsory payments to the state of Carinthia, the city will courageously invest 12.5 million euros in its infrastructure. Mayor Gerhard Köfer expressed himself optimistic that financial relief could be achieved through consolidation measures. He emphasized the positive development of local tax revenue, which at 9.5 million euros have reached a historical high, which reflects the dynamic economy in Spittal. This supports the planned company settlements and permanently strengthens the location, such as the Kleine Zeitung reported.
household printing and planning for the future
Despite an announced budget deficit of 707,300 euros, the municipality must continue to do so prudently in view of the massive increased obligations to the state of Carinthia, which are 15.4 million euros. Mayor Köfer illuminates that the earnings shares stagnate or even drop, which also affects the financial situation. However, it was possible to implement further projects that have not yet been shown in the current budget through clever planning and possibly additional federal funding. My district draws an idea of a financially requested but optimistically looking town hall.
Due to the increased focus on the establishment of citizens' energy communities and participation in local projects that affect energy costs, the city shows how important innovative approaches are in the current economic situation. Investments in water supply, wastewater disposal, streets and home ownership are essential steps to maintain both the quality of life of the citizens and to support the local economy. Mayor Köfer is confident that despite all the challenges that the city community can continue to fulfill its important role as a client for the domestic economy.
