Colored stories and jazz: Adi Schmölzer's art inspires Klagenfurt
In the lively art scene of Klagenfurt, the versatile artist and architect Adi Schmölzer shines with his colorful and expressive pictures. Schmölzer, known for his representation of women in admired movements, celebrates the joie de vivre through his art. "I make a short line and then everything arises on its own," he describes his creative process, in which jazz music often offers the perfect musical accompaniment. His works are exhibited in the Galerie M in Klagenfurt until March 21st, while in Spittal an der Drau he has a permanent exhibition at IXART, an association for art and culture, such as ORF Carinthia
a master of improvisation
Schmölzer's approach to create his art is reminiscent of the improvisations of a jazz musician. As he explains himself, he begins with a topic and then lets himself drive away, in order to finally return to the origin. "We work around until I come back," he says. This spontaneous and playful approach creates images that are not only artistically but also emotionally appealing. At over 70 years, the creative head does not think of quitting, because for him the following applies: "Doing nothing is out of the question."
The Burgenland, in which Schmölzer has lived for many years, unexpectedly became the perfect place for its artistic development. He had actually planned to move to Italy, but fate led him to the picturesque landscape of Burgenland. Here he not only found his home, but also the ideal conditions to pursue his creative passion. "This is a real art oasis", he enthusiastically describes the collaboration with Ixart, which was a matter close to his heart right from the start.
