A place of memory: the new Marterl for star children in Tiffen

In Tiffen, a new monument for star children is being built, which is installed in a particularly beautiful area of the cemetery. The project is carried by the local parish under the direction of Thomas Rindler. Two benches are built, which offer visitors a way to pause and mourn. "We understand star children who have reached heaven before they could see the light of day," explained Werner Rauchwald. The benches are equipped with QR code badges that offer families affected.

The design of the star children's martial was implemented by the well-known artist Hardy Brandner in cooperation with the grave design company Leithoff and the natural stones Kogler. Supported by many helpers, an appealing natural stone rondo was created that framed the place of remembrance. One of the benches is donated by the aid association Wandelstern, which underlines the social commitment behind this project.

planned lectures and broad support

For spring 2025, informative lectures on the subject of star children are planned to serve further awareness and education. The project not only receives great encouragement from the community, but also support from various club groups and organizations. In view of the regional and national importance, it was also funded by the state of Carinthia. The "Forum Tiffen" initiative places great emphasis on promoting quality of life and is already planning further projects that are intended to serve regional development.

The creation of a dignified place of remembrance not only offers the affected families a way to mourn, but also sensitizes the public for the topic of early losses. This creates a space in which affected parents and families cannot stand alone in their pain, but can be worn by the community.
