Carinthia under pressure: Companies shy away
In Carinthia there is an alarm: The integration rate of people with disabilities in companies remains alarming. According to an analysis of the momentum institute, two out of three companies prefer to pay a compensation tax of 320 euros per month for every non -employed person with disabilities instead of actively promoting equality. For example, four people with disabilities would have to be employed in 100 workstations, but almost 67 percent of the companies bypass this obligation and prefer to pay money instead of creating barrier -free jobs, as reports.
In order to promote the attitude of people with disabilities, Carinthia's attorney lawyer Martin Kahlig demands an increase in the compensation stax. He suggests that this payment should correspond approximately the amount of a minimum wage collective agreement. Every year, around 177 million euros in fines land in a fund that serves to integrate people with disabilities. In order for these people to be set, however, they must be recognized as beneficiaries with a disabled passport, which must correspond to a degree of disabled of over 50 percent.
EU initiatives to improve living conditions
A future -oriented element of this strategy is the introduction of the European disabled ID and the European parking permit, which was already decided in February 2024. These ID cards are intended to facilitate disability status within the EU and make it possible to benefit from special conditions. Furthermore, access to barrier -free offers is promoted in the areas of transport and services, so that people with impairments receive more freedom and opportunities.
