Ten years of more value: Celebrate the success of the Friesacher Kost-Nix shop!

In Friesach, Austria, a remarkable initiative was created a decade ago, which is more than just a simple project. The "Kost-Nix shop", which is committed to making well-preserved clothing, toys, books and household items accessible to everyone, has successfully established itself. "The idea was initially smiled at, many prophesies that the shop would not last long," says Leo Kudlicka, the chairman of the associated "Friesach in change". But the opposite turns out to be: the original idea became the "multi-value store", which plays an important role in the community.

So far, numerous clothing and everyday objects have found a second life, and the concept has proven itself. "It is not only resource -saving, but also offers people again," emphasizes Kudlicka. The shop opens its gates at Wiener Strasse 5 on Fridays and Saturdays, and the demand for the articles offered is unbroken.

anniversary celebration and future projects

To celebrate the tenth anniversary, the association invites you to the big anniversary celebration in the ballroom of the municipality on Saturday, November 23, at 4 p.m. "Anyone who wants to support philosophy and thoughts behind our shop is welcome," adds Kudlicka. This invitation is aimed at everyone who is interested in sustainable consumption and want to get involved in the initiative.

But the "multi-value store" is only part of the engagement. In addition to the shop, food sharing is also operated to save good foods in front of the garbage can. Two gardens have already been created, a project for urban memorial and bee protection measures were implemented. There is also a fruit-reaching one where every free harvest can have. "We are now 60 members who volunteer," explains the chairman and emphasizes the importance of every single helping hand.

In order to successfully implement the large number of projects, a strong team is required. A fixed group of 30 people ensures the smooth process, while other members help more flexibly. Support is not only required in the form of workforce, but also through donations and know-how, for example for technical concerns such as the design of the homepage. The variety of activities and the strong community make the "multi-value store" a center of sustainability and cooperation in Friesach.
