Cordal tradition: Boyshafts bring Christmas joy to St. Pius
The scout guild Wels has continued its long-term tradition this year and has been visiting the residents of the Caritas location of St. Pius in Steegen/Peuerbach for more than 60 years in the run-up to Christmas. What started as a simple gesture in 1961 has developed into a deeply rooted relationship that has produced cross -generational friendships. This annual campaign traditionally takes place on the third Sunday of Advent and not only offers the residents of St. Pius an unforgettable day, but also the opportunity to share their joy and enthusiasm in the form of performances, as the juggling group, which received a lot of applause href = "https://volksblatt.at/chronik/regionales/von-der-guten-tat-bentelanger-freundschaft-1794369/"> Volksblatt reported.
The initiative goes back to a member of the scout guild, whose son lived in St. Pius. This connection brought the "Rover", an age group of scouts, to make the residents happy. Every year, cakes and lunch together sweeten the day of the residents, which the scouts not only keep in mind for Christmas, but also during the year and receive visits. Josef Ratzenböck, head of the living area, emphasizes how emotional it is to be a witness over the years, how long -standing friendships have grown from a Christmas campaign.
engagement in the guild movement
The Association of Scout Guild in Austria (PGÖ) plays a central role in the organization and networking of over 100 guilds with around 3,500 members in Austria. He not only coordinates the activities of the guilds, but also represents them in public and organizes numerous nationwide events. A special initiatives are the "good deeds" to which all guilds are called. In past promotions, relief supplies were collected for refugees and children from Lebanon to Austria, which illustrates social responsibility and cohesion within the guild movement, as on pgoe.at
Thanks to these events and the regular meetings, such as the annual European forum in Großarl, a lively exchange and a valuable community are created among the scouts. The commitment of the guilds is not only strengthened by personal contacts, but also by international encounters and seminars, which exchanges ideas and promoted new enthusiasm for the community.
