Held from Villach: Like a food supplier, the worst prevented!

Lederergasse, 9500 Villach, Österreich - A dramatic scenario played in Villach when Alaaeddin Alhalabi, a 42-year-old food supplier, bravely stopped a killing run. In the late afternoon, while he wanted to deliver an order, he witnessed the horrific events in Lederergasse. There he saw several blood -blurred people lying on the ground and a perpetrator armed with a knife. "I didn't think but react immediately," said Alhalabi, who quickly decided to ram the attacker with his car. His quick action potentially prevented many other victims, especially since the perpetrator was traveling towards the city center, where numerous children were. "I couldn't allow that," he emphasized, like the police spokesman, who described Alhalabi as heroes, in the reports of OE24 .

For his extraordinary courage, Alhalabi was now honored by the Federal Chancellery with a written recognition and a medal. Writing and the coin should give his heroic commitment an appropriate appreciation. Ex-Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg also took the opportunity to personally thank Alhalabi. Nevertheless, the father does not want to be called the "hero of Villach". "I don't want to. I just did what everyone has to do," he said modestly. According to Kosmo Alhalabi also regretted that he had not reacted faster to prevent the death of a 14-year-old who was one of the victims of the amo kit.

In the middle of the tragedy, however, there was a misleading chaos. Passers -by incorrectly thought that Alhalabi was the perpetrator and damaged his delivery car. "Passers -by hit my car - they thought I was the bad thing," he said, describing the scary situation. Alhalabi is determined to emphasize the positive aspects of his integration and life in Austria and hopes that people do not connect such acts to the entire Syrian country of origin. "I've been living here for years well, and many others too. We are not like that!" He said. Despite his heroism, he does not see himself over others and remains modest: "Everyone would have reacted!"
