Held from Götzis: Altacher bravely intervenes in alcohol accidents!

On Monday evening, a serious traffic accident occurred in Götzis, which was caused by an alcoholic driver. Two young women suffered injuries, while Heiko Egle (25) from Altach as an eyewitness to what was happening showed a quick action. Egle, who wanted to eat something after a late shift at the Jet petrol station, observed how two vehicles moved the trail rapidly. One of these cars clashed against a steel railing unchecked.

The person who caused the accident, a 40-year-old man, had previously overtaken a 19-year-old driver, which led to the collision. Heiko Egle and two other young men provided first aid. Egle hired the warning indicator system and secured the accident site with a warning triangle before rescue workers and police were informed. The moment was particularly dramatic when one of the injured women got out of the vehicle and fell to the ground.

The driver, who initially continued after the incident, later returned to the scene of the accident. He had a burst tire and cooperated with the police officers on site. A considerable alcoholization was found during the review, which will lead to the withdrawal of his driver's license and further advertisements. The injured women were immediately taken to surrounding hospitals.

eGle, who knows the route well, made it clear how important it is to stop in an accident and provide help. In this specific section, overtaking is particularly critical, since the visibility and traffic situations are often dangerous.

alcohol at the wheel - a frequent danger

Alcohol at the wheel remains a major problem in road traffic. Every year, thousands of accidents from alcoholic road users occur, with many injuries or even deaths to be complained about. According to null- alcohol-oll-power.de were 14 percent of the alcoholic accidental women and 86 percent men. It is particularly worrying that 21 percent of alcoholized drivers were under 25 years old.

Another alcohol -related accident in the region occurred a few hours earlier. A 23-year-old from Hörbranz lost control of his brother's car while driving on the L 203. He crashed into a boundary post and a traffic table before driving over a bicycle strip against a wooden fence and a street lamp. The driver fled on foot after the incident, but was unharmed. An alcohol test carried out later resulted in a value of 1.02 per thousand.

The police also report that this was not the only incident of this kind. Shortly after the 23-year-old's accident, a 19-year-old from Feldkirch was also alcoholic and had an accident without a driver's license in Dornbirn and was seriously injured. The repeated cases underline the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and the need for strict measures against alcoholic drivers.
