Hanstedter Feuerwehrmarsch delights 1,500 participants and spectators!

On Sunday, May 18, 2025, the Hanstedter Fire Brigade March took place for the 47th time. This important event attracted almost 200 groups with over 1,500 participants from Germany and Switzerland. The participants came from different regions, including the Prenzlau volunteer fire brigade from Brandenburg and firefighting teams from Sagard (Rügen) and Glarus Nord in Switzerland. This makes the Hanstedter fire brigade march one of the largest and oldest firefighters in Germany. The march, which leads over a distance of 10 kilometers, contains both fire brigade questions as well as sporting exercises and skill games that require teamwork.

A special highlight of the event was the crossing of the Köhlerte pond, which was carried out in different levels of difficulty. The Hörpel-Volkwardingen volunteer fire brigade was the fastest crossing of the route among the active people, while the Evendorf youth fire brigade set up the fastest time for young people. In addition, 26 groups of children's fire brigades took part in their own 3 -kilometer course for children between the ages of 6 and 10, whereby the Thieshope I group took first place.

organization and support

The event was organized by the fire brigades of the Hanstedt community, with special thanks to the numerous helpers who contributed to the success of the event. Local fire chief Peter Lege found praise for the fantastic logistical performance and the perfect organization of the entire event. Feedback from the participants raised the friendly reception, the interesting stations and the well -thought -out concept.

In order to ensure security during the competition, the German Red Cross from Jesteburg was responsible for first aid, while DLRG Hanstedt took over the water rescue. Preparations for the march began days earlier at the Köhlerhüttenteich, where the technical relief organization set up obstacles.

catering and activities

The catering during the event was comprehensive and so countless hungry participants were well looked after. A total of around 1,800 pieces of meat, 1,800 sausages, 1,700 rolls and nine hundredweight fries were prepared for the hungry marchers. Around 150 helpers were ready to actively support the Hanstedt fire brigade in carrying out the march.

parallel to the fire brigade march, numerous specialist and network events also took place in 2025, which were planned by the German Fire Brigade Association (DFV). This shows how active and versatile the commitment of the fire service members in Germany. The DFV represents around 1.4 million members and offers, among other things, monthly online training courses. The next significant events are the German fire brigade championships, which will be held in Böblingen from July 10th to 13th, as well as various further competitions and further training over the year.
