Glantal Shuttle starts: New mobility for Liebenfels and the surrounding area!
The market town of Liebenfels has officially decided to join the regional mobility project "Postbus Shuttle Glantal" in order to improve the public transport connection in rural areas. This project aims to supplement the existing transport offer and enables a better connection to the surrounding communities. As reported click Carinthia, a total of 543 stops are set up as part of this project, 118 of which are in Liebenfels.
For the shuttle service, two barrier-free 8+1-seater vehicles are used, which are operated by a local transport company. The trips can be booked via a modern system both via the app and by phone. The operating times are Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. In the summer months, the service is also available on Sundays and public holidays, which further facilitates use for residents and tourists.
flexible tariffs and offers
The tariffs are based on the prices of the Carinthian Transport Association. Children under the age of 6 can drive free of charge while seniors benefit from discounts. This creates incentives for a broad group of users and promotes the acceptance of the new mobility offer, according to the [Kleine Zeitung] (https://www.kleinezeitung.at/kaernten/stveit/19862158/das-glantal-bekommt-seigen-bus-huttle-mit-543 stops).
In this context, the project ties in with current proposals for sustainable mobility. Federal Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder has emphasized in a research project by the Federal Ministry of Transport that a realistic traffic policy is necessary both in terms of city and land needs. The recommendations contained therein promote multimodal and intermodal transport offers that provide a combination of classic public transport with flexible and alternative transport options.
renovation of the armory in Sörg
In addition to the progress in the field of public transport, the municipal council of Liebenfels also decided to renovate and expand the armory in Sörg that has been used since 1995. This no longer corresponds to the current requirements and should now be functionally redesigned. Among other things, a new comradeship area as well as modern, barrier-free toilet facilities and additional space for local clubs are planned. The total costs for this project amount to around 390,000 euros, with preliminary funding of 128,506 euros for the Liebenfels education center from the Austrian forest fund, as also by Klick Carinthia reported.Overall, it can be seen that Liebenfels is actively working on improving the quality of life of its citizens with these initiatives and at the same time makes a contribution to sustainable mobility in rural areas.
