Geirhofer triumphs again: defending the title at ASV club championship!
Happyland, Klosterneuburg, Österreich - On May 23, 2025, the 55th table tennis club championship of the ASV Klosterneuburg took place in Happyland. Thomas Geirhofer was able to successfully defend his title and secured the victory in front of 27 participants who took part in the end of the club. The event has developed into an integral part of the club calendar over the years and always attracts great interest.
Geirhofer, who won the title last year, once again demonstrated his strength. In the group phase, he only had to hand in a sentence against the player Vladimir Kolmogorov, but remained undefeated. All eight players were able to qualify for the further rounds without surprises. The three-time club master Georg Hengl-Weinmayer was missing due to injury and thus opened the competition for other title candidates, including especially the young talents.

The course of the tournament saw exciting duels in the round of 16. Lucas Menner won against Henri Kleemann, while Sebastian Stich prevailed against Mike Hadrian. Jonas Pitour defeated Alexander Unger and competed against Geirhofer in the quarter -finals. The defending champion clearly won 3-0 in the quarter -finals against Oskar Reiter. Menner had to fight against stitch in a gripping match and prevailed in five sets. Sebastian Reitinger, who played in the second semi-finals against Fabrizian Pokorny, was able to convert a 2-0 lead after a setback in the decision-making set and finally won the victory.
In the final, Geirhofer was initially 2-0 in the lead. But Reitinger fought his way back and won the next two sentences extremely narrowly. Finally, Geirhofer secured the decisive sentence 11: 5 and thus his second club championship title in a row. In the game for third place, Pokorny was able to assert himself against Menner.

The audience also experienced exciting duels in the B competition. Doris Bigl prevailed against Gaukhar Adilbekova in the semifinals, while Christopher Peroutka defeated Johann Sauermann in four sets. In the final between Bigl and Peroutka, Bigl initially seemed to have the upper hand, but Peroutka won the next two sentences. In the end, Bigl won the decision set and thus secured her second title within just two weeks.The chairman of the ASVK thanked all participants and supporters, especially with the buffet team, who supported the tournament with a donation from the "Dermann Klosterneuburg" bakery. The event was not only a sporting highlight, but also a sociable festival for the members of the ASV Klosterneuburg.
