Gaza in need: 93 trucks with relief goods finally arrive!
Gaza, Palästinensergebiete - On May 20, 2025, 93 trucks with urgently needed aid goods were delivered in the Gaza Strip. Humanitarian aid includes flour, baby food, medical equipment and medication, as announced by the Israeli authority for Palestinian affairs, cogat. This delivery represents a ray of hope in the ongoing crisis, since since May 19, 2025, aid deliveries came back to the Gaza Strip for the first time after Israel had not allowed such transports for almost three months. For the first five trucks that arrived on Monday, the remaining vehicles were now joined with the aim of preventing acute famine.
The international community, especially the United Nations, warns of a dramatic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. UNICEF and other aid organizations have described the situation as catastrophic, whereby there is a lack of basic foods, drinking water and medication. Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the decision to allow aid deliveries was made under massive international pressure, especially by the USA.
controlled aid deliveries
The Israeli government has emphasized that it will strictly monitor the distribution of relief goods to ensure that they do not benefit the terrorist organization Hamas. Israel accuses the Hamas to resell aid goods to finance fighters and weapons. The Netanyahu plan provides that help is distributed by international organizations such as the world nutrition program and World Central Kitchen. Aid organizations, however, demand an expansion of help and warn of a hunger crisis in the Gaza Strip.
international reactions and responsibility
In the middle of this humanitarian crisis, Germany's new Foreign Minister Johann WadePhul Israel visited to have talks with Netanyahu and the Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa. Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates rejected the financing of the new plan of the GHF and criticize that it was not suitable for solving the humanitarian crisis.
The internal criticism of the controls and the distribution of relief goods by Israel is high. International aid organizations are skeptical about the plan because they fear that these measures could not only hinder humanitarian aid, but also be used to exercise pressure on vital goods. It remains to be seen whether the measures are sufficient to improve the critical humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and to restore the trust between the civilian population and the relief goods.
