Zilina, Slowakei - France's U21 national team won a dramatic 3-2 victory in the second group game of the U21 European Championship against Georgia. The game in Zilina ended with an exciting final phase, in which the decision was only made in the twelfth minute of stoppage time. France dominated the game right from the start and, with 60% possession and 18 shots, had the upper hand over Georgia, which only aimed at the goal six times. Referee Jakob Sundberg whistled the game after the turbulent last minutes and confirmed the victory for the French.
The goals fell at a quick pace: France took the lead in the 35th minute through a penalty, transformed by Mathys Tel. In the 76th minute, Georgi replied with a goal from Giorgi Abuashvili, who achieved the equalization. Just a few minutes later, in the 84th minute, Saba Sazonov managed the surprising tour for Georgia. However, the French could not be put off and equalized in the 89th minute with the help of Johann Lepenant.

in the parallel game Portugal celebrated a clear 5-0 win against Poland. The goals for Portugal scored Quenda (16./24.), Araujo (30th), Bernardo (41.) and Gomes (63.). In the coming game, France meets Poland and theoretically only needs a draw to qualify for the quarter-finals of the U21 European Championship. Georgia will compete against Portugal.
