FPÖ-Nepp attacks SPÖ: Finally, real solutions in residential construction are required!
Wien, Österreich - With a sharp criticism of the Vienna city government, FPÖ state party chairman Dominik Nepp took public. In a current statement published on June 7, 2025, Nepp argues that the coalition under SPÖ mayor Michael Ludwig does not show any real will to reform in residential construction. The politician finds that existing politics is not sufficient to ensure affordable living in Vienna. He also criticized the lack of transparency in the allocation of housing subsidies.
NPP calls for a comprehensive processing of the 10 billion euro renovation in the municipal building and speaks to stop the ghettoization of the municipal building. Another proposal is to grant access to community apartments exclusively for Austrian citizens. This is also intended to help reduce rents in the municipal building by about a third, which would benefit around 500,000 Viennese. Nepp also accuses the accusation against SPÖ and NEOS to protect the interests of builders and announces initiatives in the town hall.
federal funds for residential construction and renovation
In the context of housing policy, the federal government provides the federal states between 2024 and 2026 to grant a purpose of 1 billion euros. Part of these funds, more precisely 390 million euros, is intended for the construction of condominiums and rental apartments with a purchase option. In addition, another 390 million euros are reserved for the construction of rental apartments, while 220 million euros are intended for the renovation of rental apartments through non -profit construction associations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
In addition, the federal government will be provided to the federal states in 2024 and 2025, a total of 500 million euros. The interest rate for this loan is only 1.5%by 2028. These loans can be forwarded from private individuals for residential development loans of up to 200,000 euros.
quality standards and social mix
The model of the city of Vienna's residential building funding relies on high -quality and environmentally friendly living space. The apartments offered are designed in such a way that they are available for affordable rents. A strict competition and selection process ensures that construction projects meet all criteria with regard to economy, ecology, social sustainability and architecture.
About half of the subsidized apartments are particularly cheap smart apartments. In the context of the apartments that are awarded via the Vienna Wohnberatung, care is taken to ensure that at least a third of the new apartments are socially mixed in order to meet future residents. This regulation helps to reduce social exclusion and promote a mixed urban society.
The measures of FPÖ state party chairman Nepp and the programs of the federal government as well as the Vienna housing policy show in various ways how complex the topic of living space creation and funding in Vienna is. The discussion about affordable living remains exciting and will continue to be intensively conducted by the political actors in the future.
