FPÖ criticizes ORF dialog forum: obsessive-compulsive taxpayer!

Keine Adresse oder Ort angegeben. - FPÖ media spokesman Christian Hafenecker has the ORF dialogue forum "Under Attack!" The event sharply criticized and described the event as "mockery of all ORF compulsory taxpayers". According to Hafenecker, the dialogue forum is a "high office of left -wing ideological opinion machies and manipulation", which only serves to promote certain ideological positions. He announced that the topic should be treated at the next meeting of the foundation councils. In his criticism, he refers to an earlier discussion with former left-wing terrorists, which was moderated by an ORF editor.

Hafenecker claims that the ORF works with left-wing clubs and finds that interest in public service media is disappearing. He expresses special concerns about the possible consequences of the dialogue forum, which in his opinion could lead to further censorship against social and alternative media. He also critically looks at the participation of several prominent people who, in his view, are close to a left -wing agenda.

criticism of ORF and political negotiations

The criticism is particularly aimed at prominent participants of the Dialog forum, including the founder of "Volksverpetzer.de" and Fritz Hausjell, a member of the Bund of Social Democratic Academics. Hafenecker sees a platform in the event for the "Who is who" of the left-wing media and NGO apparatus. In addition, he criticizes the reporting of the ORF on important topics such as corona, mass immigration, climate change and the Ukraine war, which he perceives as one-sided and manipulative.

In the political debate about medialization, the topic of media policy was treated on Friday between the FPÖ and the ÖVP. Planned massive budget cuts and a switch to direct state financing could endanger the ORF journalistic independence. The pressure on public service broadcasting is growing, and over 15,000 people have signed a petition to support ORF within four days. More than 6,000 emails were sent to political negotiators: inside.

The role of public service broadcast

According to an analysis of media freedom, public service broadcasting is considered indispensable in times of fake news and disinformation. The desired savings could not only lead to program cuts, but also endanger thousands of jobs in the film and TV industry. Around 14,000 people are employed in this industry in Austria. For comparison: Red Bull has 15,779 employees: inside, Magna Steyr 7.820.

The independence of public service broadcasting is of central importance for democracy. Freedom of broadcasting is not only seen as a right to expression, but is also crucial for the promotion of pluralistic opinions and access to independent information. Political influence can endanger objective reporting and underlines the need to question political and economic dependencies.

In view of the current developments,

the call to support independent media is particularly relevant. The broad support from organizations such as the Press Club Concordia, the Association of European Journalists and SOS Mismensch shows that the topic has far -reaching social importance. Plurality, transparency and access to independent information are fundamental values that are not allowed in a democracy.
