FPÖ celebrates election victory in Vienna: Kickl emphasizes course change for the citizens!
In the Vienna election, the FPÖ almost triple its vote under its top candidate Dominik Nepp compared to the 2020 election to around 20 percent. Herbert Kickl, the Federal Party chairman of the FPÖ, was grateful for the trust of the voters and congratulated Nepp and his team on this remarkable election success. He emphasized that the result of the election was a clear sign that the people in Vienna want a change that focuses on their needs. In addition, Mayor Ludwig Scharf was criticized by referring to the "obstetrician" of the black-red-pink coalition, while the FPÖ was praised for its work in the interests of the population. Kickl pointed out the ten election successes of the FPÖ since 2022 in the National Council, EU and state elections and described the current result as confirmation of the straightforward course of freedom.
The FPÖ's election finals at the Vienna Stephansplatz attracted thousands of people. Current surveys had already indicated a growth of votes for the FPÖ, and Kickl was optimistic about the upcoming state and municipal council election. He stated that the FPÖ was the best choice for Vienna and assumes that the SPÖ would lose voices. Kickl criticized the so -called unit parties, which in his opinion gambled away the trust of the population. At the same time, he clearly spoke out for a redistribution of non-operators to service providers and praised Dominik Nepp as the best top candidate. In his speech, he emphasized the solidarity of the FPÖ with the Viennese population and named prosperity, security, security and peace as the central goals of his party.
political competition and election behavior
KICKL criticized the current government program of the SPÖ and the lack of measures to relieve as well as de -bureaucratization. He asked the Viennese to issue the invoice to the unit parties and in particular SPÖ Mayor Michael Ludwig. The upcoming choice is a clear question of decision between the five good years with the FPÖ or the "further as before" with the SPÖ. Kickl also recalled his appearance before the National Council election and assured that the “People's Chancellor” project was only postponed.
The political context shows an interesting city-country gap in the election behavior in Austria. The FPÖ has established itself as the strongest party in rural regions and suburbs, while SPÖ, Greens and Neos dominate in the big cities. The FPÖ recently reached 33 percent of the valid votes in the country and leads in smaller cities, where it received 29.8 percent. In contrast, the SPÖ is ahead in cities like Vienna with 27.7 percent, followed by the FPÖ, which was 21.7 percent. This growing gap between urban and rural voter behavior illustrates the current challenges for the FPÖ in their election tactical orientation.
Overall, the FPÖ's election success in Vienna not only shows a significant gain in voices, but also a clear message of the electorate, which is looking for change and straight political answers. With Dominik Nepp at the top, the FPÖ seems willing to continue a competition for the influence in Viennese politics in the future.
