Fossil world Weinviertel: The spectacular reopening is enthusiastic!
Stetten, Österreich - The Fossil World Weinviertel in Stetten, Korneuburg district, was officially reopened today on June 22, 2025. The comprehensive modernization of the attraction cost around two million euros, and the celebrations were led by Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of this facility for the imparting of knowledge and natural history.
In recent years, the fossil world was very popular as a popular destination in the Weinviertel. The reopening brings numerous new attractions, including the world's largest fossil oyster reef and interactive experiences for young and old. With a new multimedia show, visitors are offered a trip to 16.5 million years ago.

Among the newly introduced attractions are a giant shark that invites you to climb, and a walk -in tower snail with an exciting giant slide. A new adventure playground with water play area and mango forest ensures additional fun. Visitors can also look forward to an experience exhibition with the largest fossil pearl in the world and look around for shark teeth and other fossils in a sand bay. Other new highlights include:

A tour with university professor Mathias Harzhauser from the Natural History Museum Vienna took place after the ceremony. He demonstrated the fossil species from the tropical world 17 million years ago, which are exhibited in the fossil world.

The Lower Austria card is emphasized as an important impulse provider for the attraction. The Fossil World Weinviertel was opened in 2009 and has now taken an important place in regional leisure activities. The opening times are until November 2, Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
