Solemn inn culture: Lower Austria opens the gates to the world of pleasure!
The festival of the inn culture in Lower Austria was an important day for the region's gastronomy on April 30, 2025. The event took place in the Congress Center Luberegg in Emmersdorf on the Danube and marked the start of the fourth decade of the club. Numerous landlords and guests from the areas of tourism, business, culture and politics were present to celebrate the cultural and culinary traditions.
The governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner emphasized the enormous importance of the inn culture for Lower Austria. Around 200 member companies are part of this cultural heritage, which is characterized by regionality, quality, hospitality and authenticity. The gastronomy scene in Lower Austria, which includes various taverns with an impressive character, forms the backbone of local culture.
The role of the inn culture
The inn culture is not only a place of encounter, but also a symbol of traditions that have been cultivated in the region for generations. Each tavern tells its own story, shaped by the landscape, architecture and the style of its hosts. These hosts are the keepers of the regional and seasonal freshness kitchen and offer down-to-earth and newly interpreted tavern classics. A tavern is therefore a place for enjoyment and conviviality, not only for hunger and thirst, as well as the Wirtshauskultur emphasized.
A significant part of the festival was the recognition of young people's achievements in the catering trade. Mikl-Leitner spoke about the challenges of labor and skilled workers in this area and emphasized the importance of drinking money as an appreciation for the employees. The tax conditions were also discussed, the companies presented with challenges.
initiatives to promote youth
Two new initiatives were introduced to inspire young people for the catering trade: "Young Double Date", a four -course menu for people between the ages of 16 and 25, as well as "Young Cooking/Young Dining", workshops for cooking and tasting. These programs aim to arouse interest in gastronomic professions and promote the skills of young talents.
Mario Pulker, the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, and Harald Pollak, chairman of the tavern culture, emphasized the central role of the tavern culture as part of Lower Austrian identity. Pollak explained the ongoing brand process and new guiding principles of the inn culture, while Michael Duscher, managing director of the Lower Austria advertising, announced a new advertising campaign. The event also offered food stations where the participants could enjoy culinary offers from the region.
The festival of the inn culture was not only a solemn occasion, but also an important step to secure the future of gastronomy in Lower Austria. Over the years, the tavern culture has invested over 70 million euros in companies to maintain the quality and diversity that the region has to offer. These investments benefit both the companies and the visitors and contribute to strengthening the culinary heritage of Lower Austria.
