Ossiacher See, Österreich - On July 4, 2025, the “Weg of the Planet” was officially opened, an impressive project that is 1: 1 billion scale. The initiative, which was carried out by the Tourismus Association Gerlitzen Alpe - Ossiacher See and the state of Carinthia, includes eleven stations where visitors can discover the distances and proportions of the planets and their peculiarities. The focus is on children, families and school classes to convey knowledge about the universe in a vivid way. The first starting point on this extraordinary hiking trail is the sun, the starting point for the exciting exploration of the solar system.

Visitors can look forward to informative stations that are supplemented with info boards and 3D models. These offer a deep understanding of the celestial bodies and their relative positions. Augmented reality elements ensure an even more captivating experience that can be used with a smartphone. There are a total of three virtual AR experiences and two new panorama platforms that expand the view of the space and provide additional information.

The planetary path in Müllrose, which was realized as part of the project, offers the walkers the opportunity to start moving and experience the feeling of moving through the solar system at about four times light speed (warp-2). During the tour, visitors not only meet the classic planet, but also interesting highlights such as dwarf planets and transneptunic objects. There is also the opportunity to fly through the asteroid belt and explore the heliopause and the termination shock.

A stele is placed at every planetary location that provides valuable information and a QR code for further details. The last boards provide information about astronomical goals that go beyond the solar system.
