an environmentally friendly festival

The Wiener Wasserfest is based on the criteria of the Austrian environmental sign for green events in order to be designed environmentally friendly. Access to the festival is barrier -free, with entrances on Triester Straße/Windtenstraße and Raxstraße. Registrations for school classes enable a free journey with the Viennese lines. In addition, visitors are asked to bring their own bottles to fill with drinking water to avoid disposable bottles.

There are also popular water playgrounds beyond the borders of Vienna, such as those in the Bochum city park, which is open on warm summer days from May to September. This offers two more than 100 square meters of pelvis, which are filled with filtered and chlorinated water, as well as a water player with a mud table that stimulates creative development. Such water features not only promote cooling in hot cities, but also have an important social aspect because they enable access to water for people without their own pool. The planning of appropriate water systems should always take into account the water supply and environmental compatibility.

The importance of water playgrounds and public water elements is also necessary in the need to create heat adaptation plans for cities. These are intended to ensure that water resources are used sustainably, especially in view of the increasing drinking water consumption in Germany of an average of 127 liters per person per day. These aspects underline the relevance of the Vienna waterproof and the valuable experiences it offers its visitors in times when water resources are becoming increasingly important.
