Energy prices in a descent: Save now with heating and electricity!

Energy prices in Austria experienced a dramatic decline in October, which should delight households. The prices for budgetary energy dropped by 1.8 percent and even 16.6 percent compared to the previous year compared to the previous month. The prices for natural gas fell particularly strongly, where there was a decline of 6.5 percent in the month comparison. The development is not only limited to natural gas. Heating oil and wood pellets also recorded significant price returns. While heating oil became 1 percent more expensive in October, the price was 17.9 percent in the year. Holz pellets cost 0.6 percent more in October than in the previous month, but here too there is positive news: compared to the previous year, prices dropped by 22.9 percent. At the petrol stations, the providers report a decline in diesel prices by 14.5 percent and 9.1 percent compared to the previous year. In addition, the electricity price was 3.9 percent in the month comparison and 6.7 percent in the year.

The energy agency announced that some regional energy suppliers are expecting further price reductions over the next few months. Nevertheless, it is expected that funding measures such as the electricity cost brake will be eliminated in early 2025. Therefore, energy expert Lukas Zwieb recommends all households to check their electricity tariffs carefully and compare various offers so that they can continue to benefit from the sunken prices. The Austrian energy agency is optimistic because over 100 employees from various disciplines develop solutions to the climate -neutral future and want to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels.
