Drosts confesses: Corona error and the obligation to vaccinate for nurses!
In a current session in front of the Saxon Corona investigation committee, virologist Christian Drosten gave serious misjudgments during the corona pandemic. Drosten, who became known as the leading explaner in German-speaking countries during this crisis, rejected the claim that he was the "architect of the Corona strategy". He made it clear that he had only participated in a few government meetings and declared his deep concern about the erroneous recommendation of the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina from November 2021 On the obligation to vaccinate for nursing staff, which he described as the greatest misjudgment of his commitment. This statement was emphasized by the Kosmo as a central aspect of the hearing.
The Leopoldina had recommended a compulsory vaccination for medical staff at the time, but it turned out that the protective effect of the vaccinations against the omikron variant was lower than expected. Despite these errors, Drosten emphasized the positive effects of the vaccination campaign on illness and mortality. In this way, the compliance in Germany sank before and after the vaccination campaign from approx. 4.6 % to approx. 0.1 %, whereby vaccinations contributed significantly to reducing deaths, such as an analysis of pmc occupied.
uncertainties at the beginning of the pandemic
Drosten also admitted that the data situation was often "shaky" at the beginning, whereby he named an excessive estimate of the hospitalization rate in children, which was set up to 20 % by the US health authority in 2020. This estimate was later revised. The concerns about serious complications in children led to measures, the appropriateness of which was hardly discussed in public. According to Image To return taxpayers something that should underline the transparency of his work.
The investigation committee was set up on the initiative of the AfD and has the goal of checking the measures taken during the pandemic. This includes, in particular, school closures, test obligations and vaccination campaigns. For drosts, the experience from pandemic is also a request to separate scientific advice and political decision -making. He pleads for a clear differentiation in order to be able to make better decisions in the future.
future challenges
Current reports show that the Covid 19 pandemic not only had profound effects on the health systems, but also on society. This experience has disclosed weaknesses in the German health system and illustrated the need for reform. It is obvious that pandeme -related challenges, such as the acute lack of personnel in the healthcare system, are not only temporary nature, but also require long -term structural changes. PMC also emphasizes the need to educate the population about vaccines and their importance in order to strengthen trust in public health measures.
The meeting of the committee of inquiry was interrupted after two hours due to time constraints, and Drosten is invited to say again at a later date. This continued discussion will be crucial for reflection and teaching that should be drawn from the Covid 19 pandemic.
