Three new rescue boats strengthen fire brigade Kleve for missions on the North Sea!
Kleve, Deutschland - On May 30, 2025, the Kleve volunteer fire brigade put three new rescue boats on duty. These boats, which were officially handed over on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, are intended to significantly improve the operational capacity of the fire brigade in the Wardhausen-Brien, Düffelward and Griethausen units. The new rescue boats made of modern, light plastic material not only offer improved maneuverability and handling, but also better options for saving people from the water.
The forces of Wardhausen-Brienen and Griethausen replace their previous boats, while Düffelward is given their own lifeboat for the first time. The new boats bear the names "Johanna Sebus II" for Brienen-Wardhausen, "Wolf 2" for Griethausen and "Mauritius" for Düffelward. The practical instruction of the representatives of the units takes place on the North Sea, where they can familiarize themselves with the new devices.
New standards at the Möhnesee fire brigade
The Möhnesee fire brigade also optimizes its stock of lifeboats. Here two new models, "Florian Möhnesee 1-RTB 2-1" and "Florian Möhnesee 2-RTB 2-1", were put into service. These boats, which were transferred to the community on December 21, 2022, increase security on the Möhnesee and offer more rescue options than their predecessors. With a loading capacity of up to twelve people, in contrast to only two additional people in the old boats, the new models can support more efficient water rescue activities.
The new rescue boats of the Möhnesee fire brigade are equipped with 70 hp and weigh 600 kilograms. They have a diving bug flap for rescue and are self-swimming. The municipality invested a low six -digit amount in these boats, which were purchased due to increased water rescue operations. In addition, the old boats that no longer met the requirements are intended for sale.
rescue operations on the water
Boat inserts from the fire brigade place particularly high demands on the emergency services. These must be comprehensively trained in order to be able to successfully operate in various weather conditions. The dangers include not only weather conditions such as wind and waves, but also obstacles in the water and dangerous flow conditions. The guidelines for the safe handling of rescue boats determine that only trained people are allowed to take the tax, and lifeguards are essential for the protection of the emergency services.
The requirements for the boats are high, especially measured by the fact that they have to remain floating even when fully stuck and correspond to the standards for fire service, as defined in DIN 14 961. This applies in particular to boats that are used in heavily pouring waters.
The modernization and the exchange of outdated boats work more intensively in Kleve and Möhnesee to increase the security for both the rescuers and for the people who need to be saved from dangerous situations. The new boats are not only technical progress, but also an important feedback for the growing requirements for the water rescue service.
