Inclusion and accessibility

A central concern of the festival is inclusion. This is promoted by numerous measures. The festival site is barrier-free and special wheelchair grandstands, shuttle services and a buddy system are available. The sign language performance by Pam Eden, which should take place at various concerts, are also particularly noteworthy. Furthermore, there are five magenta rest areas that serve as a retreat for visitors: in the inside with special needs.

The inclusion of people with disabilities not only meets the requirements of the UN Convention on the Rights of Disabilities, but is also supported by the corresponding organization of the Danube Island Festival. Events have the potential to bring people together, but reality is often characterized by a lack of accessibility. All the more important is the implementation of inclusive approaches at the Danube Island Festival, which are also discussed in the recommendations for more accessibility at events. The consideration of physical, financial and cognitive aspects of accessibility is of central importance here.

sustainability and social responsibility

Another focus of this year's festival is on sustainability. A sustainability advisory board will promote the environmentally friendly structures of the festival. In addition, an interactive sustainability island raises awareness of festival visitors for environmentally friendly practices. Special measures to reduce food waste are also planned. In addition, the Charity partner 2025, the Austrian Cancer Aid Vienna, should be supported as part of cup donations and the sale of #DIF25 bags.

The all-round care is supplemented by a wide educational program in which over 120 teachers present the monster friends songs. In addition, there will be opportunities for discussions and transfer of knowledge about democracy on the Democracy island. An EU stand and an information center entitled "Parliament on Tour" give visitors insight into parliamentary processes.

The Danube Island Festival 2025 with its concept is not only a musical highlight, but also an example of social cohesion and a respectful way of dealing with each other. ORF III will report on the festival and offer more than 15 hours of program, while W24 grants additional insight behind the scenes.
