On Friday, June 6, 2025, the Stuttgart fire brigade was alerted at 12:50 p.m. for a strain joint fire in Freihofstrasse in the Stammheim district. Residents had previously noticed the fire and called the emergency services. When the fire brigade arrived, a strong smoke development in the roof area was visible, but all people had left the building independently and unharmed.
The cause of the fire turned out to be an expansion joint burn between two buildings. In order to achieve the stove of the fire, the fire brigade had to open parts of the roof and a wall, which designed the reversal work elaborately and lengthy. The fire service and measurement service of the fire brigade controlled the building for increased carbon monoxide values.
lengthy extinguishing work
After extensive ventilation measures, the building was secured and the site was handed over to the police. statistical background
reports about such fires are not only important locally, but also relevant at a global level, as the Center for Fire Statistics of the CFIF (CFS-CTIF) shows. The annual report on world fire statistics, most recently published in 2023, shows that fires are a significant risk. The report includes data from 38 states and 26 major cities and examines the causes of fire in 66 countries.
The project "100 Cities - 100 Years" analyzes the development of urban fire risks and offers interesting insights into the fire in the past century. Again and again it becomes clear that both political and cultural factors have an impact on fire protection.
These statistical surveys are essential to understand the fire situation in cities and optimize future prevention measures.
