Burgdorf, a city that is known for its strong voluntary commitment, has once again expressed its appreciation for outstanding citizens. The city has been giving the citizens' medal since 2002 to honor the voluntary commitment of people. This year the city and its residents are happy about new winners: Heidi Rust, Matthias Schorr and Rolf Hoppe, who were honored for their services in the community. A total of 38 citizens in Burgdorf have already been considered with this award.

Heidi Rust, which is called "living memory of city history", has researched the history of Burgdorf together with Dieter Heun for many years. Their passion and dedication led to the publication of eleven books in which significant aspects of local history are recorded.
