Shocking cruelty to animals: 200 dogs in Hungary under cruel conditions
In Hungary, shocking conditions have come to light on a so-called "horror farm", where around 200 dogs were kept between dead animals under cruelest conditions in a dirty environment. This so -called pedigree dog breeding turned out to be an illegal puppy breeding station. The operator, an Austrian woman known as "Sattel-Gitti", is now on the run.
As early as 2020, the Eisenstadt public prosecutor's office against 62-year-old Brigitta M. began due to cruelty to animals and illegal trade in dogs. Despite an existing dog salvation ban in Austria, she is said to have organized puppy handover in Burgenland several times. The investigators suspect that she is hidden in a property she has acquired in the towns of Oberwart or Lutzmannsburg.
dogs in emergency
A total of over 500 dogs were saved from this shocking situation, with most animals being intended for illegal sale to Austria and Germany. The rescue operation illustrates the unscrupulous methods with which illegal puppy trade operates. Despite the horrific circumstances, no arrest warrant has yet been issued against the operator in Austria, which stimulates the international cooperation between the authorities in the region. It turns out that the existing measures to combat animal cruelty and illegal sale of pets must be significantly tightened.
Reporting about this incident not only attracted great attention in Hungary, but also in Austria. The cruel reality with which the rescued dogs were confronted throws the urgent need to introduce stricter controls and regulations in the area of dog keeping. Those affected on social media show their outrage about such grievances and demand measures to improve the situation of animal protection law.
These incidents are an urgent call to consistently combat the practices of illegal puppy trade in Europe. It remains to be seen how the Austrian authorities will react to these developments and what further steps to clarify the case can be undertaken, .
