Young talents of the Oberwart Tourism School shine at Heurigen

Pupils of the fourth year invited to their first Buschenschank in the Stubit, where they spoiled the guests with an exquisite four -course menu and exquisite wines from the region. From Thursday to Saturday, visitors were able to enjoy the culinary creations that combined traditional Heurigen specialties with innovative ideas.

The event started with a warm welcome, in which the young hosts were enough for an aperitif and greeted the guests with a greeting. Andreas Lonyai, the director of the Oberwart Business Campus, and Elisabeth Pichler, Head of Head, reported how the project came about. "The students explored the Südburgenland on foot and by bike and worked with winegrowers on this project," said Pichler.

The member of the state parliament Doris Prohaska praised the commitment of the students and expressed the desire to see them in the future as important players for tourism in the region. One of the highlights of the event was the nomination of Georg Pölzelbauer, a student at the Oberwart Tourism School, for the final of the "Falstaff Young Talents Cup" in Salzburg. In an exciting competition, the best young people in the tourism sector competed in different categories, and Pölzelbauer made it into the final round of the best eight with its unique cocktail creations. Helmut Hofer, department board, was pleased with this significant success: "This competition offers the participants the opportunity to demonstrate their talents and to establish valuable contacts in top catering."

This Year’s “Falstaff Young Talents Cup” was special because it marked the tenth anniversary of the competition. The participants presented creative dishes and masterful cocktails that amazed both the jury and the guests. The jury, which consisted of leading representatives of the gastronomy, was enthusiastic about creativity, manual skills and passion that the finalists showed.

This event is not only a platform for the talented students, but also a step towards a stronger link between education and regional development. The event is harmoniously illustrated how important such initiatives are in order to promote the quality and diversity of domestic gastronomy.
