Schools in Neusiedl rely on circular economy and climate awareness
In the Neusiedl am See district, three schools have launched a project to promote climate awareness and energy efficiency in a joint initiative. Under the name "C2C" or "Cradle to Cradle", a concept is presented that promotes sustainable, continuous circular economy, in which resources are not only used efficiently, but also recycled. With a kick-off workshop that took place on Tuesday, the Bhak and Bhas Frauenkirchen, Gymnasium Neusiedl and the private middle school in Neusiedl am See started a new phase of consciousness for dealing with resources.
Governor Deputy Astrid Eisenkopf and Councilor of Education Daniela Winkler supported the pupils and teachers, who are significantly involved in the project. They expressed how important it is to deal with topics such as climate change and energy consumption. In view of the fact that according to Global Footprint Network the natural resources of Austria are already planned until the middle of the year, rethinking is absolutely necessary. "The earth only has limited resources, and it is time to take this into account," emphasized Winkler.
school project and climate protection
With the project "C2C-Cradle to Cradle", students and teachers are intended to take responsibility to actively contribute to combating climate change. With the support of the climate and energy model region (KEM) Neusiedler See, the participating schools would like to promote long-term awareness of consciousness with regard to the topics of climate change and energy. This is done through lessons and projects that show the students how they can influence themselves.
The project is funded comprehensively, with a budget of 30,000 euros from the climate and energy fund. The aim is to design the educational content in such a way that sustainability and environmental protection are permanently anchored in the educational institutions. Not only is the knowledge about dealing with natural resources, but also the development of innovative solutions.
Replacefossil fuels
The strategy of KEM Neusiedler See also aims to push the exit from fossil fuels such as oil and gas. Instead, the project focuses on clean energy generation through renewable sources such as solar energy, wind power and bioenergy from the region. These measures are not only necessary to reach the climate goals, but also to create a more environmentally friendly basis for future generations. Robert Schnitzhofer heads the model region team and actively conveys concepts for an environmentally conscious use of energy.
The committed action of these schools is a step in the right direction and shows that they are willing to take over carmin responsibility. Interactive projects not only convey theoretical basics, but also develop practical solutions and models for the use of circular economy. This offers young people the opportunity to work actively and creatively in environmental protection and to develop awareness of the need for sustainable action.
